Ultimate Circle Island Tour

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the options for island tours on Oahu, maybe this will help 🙂

I took my mom with me on the Discover Hawaii Ultimate Island Eco Adventure tour (kind of a mouthful so from now on I’ll refer to it as “the tour”) and we both absolutely loved it! Our tour guide, Bruce, was extremely knowledgeable and personable – we were blown away by how much of the island history he was able to rattle off throughout the duration of the tour. My mom was born and raised here and even she was learning a lot.

On the day we went, the weather wasn’t the best, but Bruce managed to make all of the locations work anyway. Fortunately, the sun came out for the entire time that we were at Waimea Valley, so swimming in the falls was amazing.

This tour takes you to all of the popular Oahu attractions and sites, but I think my two favorite stops were Waimea and Secret Beach at Kualoa Ranch, where we had lunch. The lunch was delicious (I went with the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap and I highly recommend it). Although the location probably would’ve been better had the sun been out, even with the rainy weather it was still a great spot to check out. I’d actually never been before, but now that I have I totally want to take all of my friends and family when they visit! There are hammocks, picnic tables, volleyball courts, kayaks, stand up paddleboards and even a tree swing. I spent a solid 10 minutes reliving my childhood on that.

The timing for everything was perfect – we felt like we had just enough time to explore all of the areas without getting bored. I was speaking to some of the other guests with us and they said it was easily one of the best tours they’ve ever been on. It was really an ideal way to see the island and Bruce went above and beyond to make it the best experience it could possibly be for us.

  1. Hey thank you for the write up. Quick question: Would you recommend a circle island tour that includes Pearl Harbor or should we do a seperate tour of Pearl Harbor on another day?

    • Hi Jeff, great question! Unless you’re really strapped for time, we definitely suggest doing Pearl Harbor on another day. While there are a number of tours that combine the two, they only provide the opportunity to visit the USS Arizona Memorial, and even then it’s a pretty rushed stop. With the USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri Battleship, Pacific Aviation Museum and Bowfin Submarine, Pearl Harbor has a LOT to offer and to do everything usually takes a full day on its own. Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions or need help with making a reservation 🙂

    • Are you looking for eco-adventure tours or just activities that will get your adrenaline going? We’ve got both here – for the eco-adventures there are tours that will include hiking, biking, snorkeling, horseback riding, ATV tours or some combination of those. If you’re interested in some of the more thrilling things to do, you could try helicopter tours, jet skiing, parasailing, glider rides, shark cage dives or even a water-powered jet pack. Pretty much anything you want, we could help you find!
